ABOUT THIS JOB
Employees in this role support analytical laboratory activities through administrative functions.
JOB DUTIES
NOTE: The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by this position in this job classification. Not all duties are included, nor is it expected that all laboratory administrators will be assigned every duty.
· Logs samples and related pertinent information into laboratory database
· Verifies sample submissions match accompanying documentation and stages samples for log-in
· Assists with various sample preparation as trained and deemed competent
· Processes reports
· Acts as first point of contact for the laboratory and directs laboratory issues to appropriate personnel
· Enters sample analytical data into laboratory database
· Enters QC data into data storage area
· Maintains records and files
· Places orders for supplies and materials
· Performs general laboratory housekeeping
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
NOTE: Knowledge in every area listed is not required at the hiring stage, but is expected to develop through training and exposure to activities within the laboratory.
· Knowledge of laboratory tests and analyses
· Knowledge of laboratory terminology and equipment
· Knowledge of all Quality procedures
· Ability to handle samples
· Ability to make basic mathematical computations
· Ability to keep records
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Ability to work within a team environment
· Ability to maintain impartiality and integrity in reporting results
· Ability to use computer (PC) to create spreadsheets and enter data
· Ability to follow vendor ordering procedures
· Ability to perform detail-oriented, mistake-free work
Education / Experience
HS Diploma/ Associates Degree or equivalent required. No specific experience is required, but laboratory experience is desired.
