Job Overview:

The incumbent will be responsible for influencing the organization through their leadership and strong knowledge of the consumer. The candidate will be the category expert, with a strong voice and strong POV so that they can advocate for the consumer and ‘tell the story' and build strong relationships across the organization to effectively influence decisions.

The Director will oversee all insight planning and recommendations, strategic positioning and innovation, and will have a strong Consumer Insight background tied to business results with a passion for brands. They will build strong partnerships with their Brand, Commercial teams, Innovation, and strategy/analytics teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for the consumer by having a POV that they are willing to champion and express across all levels of the organization.
  • Develop national and customer-specific shopper research plans to uncover shopper trends and unique shopping behaviors across our key retailer partners.
  • Identify and translate consumer, customer, shopper & media related needs, insights, behaviors, and data into growth opportunities to gain fair share of growth and guide business strategy and planning.
  • Research methodologies may include but are not limited to: concept tests, package tests, claims tests, creative & advertising tests, consumer A&Us, brand tracking etc.
  • This role contributes to driving company sales and gaining advantage by developing custom research and thought leadership to uncover category and shopper insights that drive increased performance at retailers.
  • Expertise in research and trends-based work including a demonstrated ability to translate information and data into a compelling story with actionable insights and recommendations which ultimately impact business decisions.
  • This would include brand positioning, market development, brand performance, content and communication, renovation and innovation, cross-media allocation, shopper and other marketing & category development initiatives.
  • Develop and execute research plans with autonomy to address business questions.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships, collaborating with other members of the (Brand Marketing, Sales, Strategy & Analytics, Innovation, and our agency partners.
  • Manage the CI budget, challenging and prioritizing allocation to best meet the needs for the brand/portfolio.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in consumer research, market and/or category analysis. Bachelor's degree; advanced degree a plus.
  • Consumer packaged goods experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strategic thinking, consulting and influencing skills, including capabilities to assess current situation, draw conclusions and envision future business opportunities. Strong business partner motivated by success.
  • Expert knowledge of consumer insights across a broad array of methodologies with demonstrated ability to translate research findings, information and data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and exudes the confidence to express a clear POV across all levels of the organization.
