Maui Prep is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered Academic Support Specialist to join our vibrant and growing school ‘ohana. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by working closely with students, faculty, and families in a dynamic K-12 environment.
Position Overview:
The Academic Support Specialist will provide individualized and small-group instruction primarily in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, with potential support for middle and high school students as needed. You’ll collaborate with classroom teachers and learning teams to design engaging, personalized learning experiences that help students build confidence, catch up, or go further.
Whether you’re working one-on-one with a 2nd grader on phonics or helping a 5th grader tackle long division, your impact will be immediate and meaningful. This is not just a support role—it’s a relationship-building, growth-igniting, student-cheering role!

Duties

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic intervention and enrichment in ELA and Math
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to align support with curriculum and learning goals
• Maintain regular communication with teachers and families
• Track student progress and adjust strategies to maximize growth
• Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive support environment

 

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• Passion for education and a belief in every student’s potential
• Experience working with elementary-aged children (experience with middle/high school a plus)
• Background in literacy and/or math instruction or intervention
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor’s degree required; education-related field preferred

Benefits

Schedule & Compensation:

• Full-time or Part-time available
• Full-time salary starts at $55,913 annually (per salary scale)
• Additional compensation based on advanced degrees and experience
